Captain Price Actor Barry Sloane Wants The Call Of Duty Movie Role

Barry Sloane says his years playing Captain Price make him the strongest candidate to bring the character to the big screen.

Barry Sloane has a fairly straightforward pitch for the Call of Duty movie: if you’re looking for Captain Price, he’s already been doing the job.

The actor wants to bring his version of the cigar-smoking soldier to live action, arguing that years spent playing Price have given him an understanding of both the character and the audience that Hollywood would struggle to replace.

Speaking to Dan Allen Gaming, in an interview reported by IGN’s Cade Onder, Sloane made his case without much hesitation.

“I don’t think there’s anyone else on the planet who is as qualified for the job as I am,” he said.

His argument goes beyond looking like the bloke. Sloane pointed to the time he’s spent inhabiting Price, working on productions of this scale and building a relationship with the fans who have followed the games. He also welcomed the support from players who want him to make the jump.

That enthusiasm comes with a pretty realistic view of the casting process. Sloane acknowledged that studios have their own lists of actors and reasons for choosing them. He would love the opportunity, and believes he could help the production, but he isn’t presenting it as a done deal.

It’s an understandable ambition for an actor whose association with Price stretches back to Modern Warfare in 2019. Activision’s own interview from that game’s development introduced him in the role alongside Infinity Ward narrative director Taylor Kurosaki.

The planned film is being directed by Peter Berg, with Taylor Sheridan attached to the script. IGN reports that it is expected to use the Modern Warfare setting, though the particular story and whether it will carry over the games’ performers remain open questions.

For now, Sloane has put his hand up. Whether Hollywood takes the man already playing Price up on that offer is another matter.
