SEGA recently filed a new trademark for a game named “Shadow the Hedgehog”. There’s no indication as to which SEGA project the trademark is tied to.
Fans are speculating a potential remake of the 2005 action-adventure game of the same name. The game was poorly reviewed on release but has since made a bit of a sentimental comeback, perhaps aided by the success of Sonic Racing; Crossworlds and last year’s Sonic X Shadow Generations and . As always, many in the Sonic community are hoping for a brand-new game starring the red-and-black antihero, which isn’t out of the cards.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. A trademark filing is generally considered a reliable indicator that a related product is on the way, though, at this point, when it comes out is anyone’s guess.
